Tucson, Arizona, located just 60 miles from the Mexico border, provides a vital context for understanding and engaging with issues surrounding immigration. As a gateway to the borderlands, Tucson is an ideal setting for your group to deepen their knowledge and involvement in matters related to immigrants, asylum-seekers, and the broader immigration system.

During your Be The Neighbor trip to Tucson, your group will immerse themselves in a week of education, collaboration, and hands-on service. Activities are designed to help participants understand what it means to welcome and support our immigrant neighbors. You will engage in desert walks to gain perspective on the challenges faced by those crossing the border, participate in humanitarian aid efforts, and contribute to building projects that support local communities. You will have the option to cross the border into Mexico to work with our partners in Nogales, Mexico. We hope your group will go home ready to partner with neighbors new to your community to welcome, advocate and work for change and hope together!

Your group will explore how the topics you’re learning about are relevant to your own community and will develop a plan for how you can continue this work when you get home. Be The Neighbor weeks are learning and launching trips, meaning participants will leave the week equipped to live lives of love, service, and justice in ways that are relational, sustainable, and dignity-affirming!

Be The Neighbor’s summer programming begins on Sunday evening and concludes on Friday morning. You may stay an additional night to explore see the city in this location for an additional $10 per person. Check out is 10 am Saturday morning.
